With extensive experience in senior management and insurance broking, Allan has worked in the insurance industry since 1975.

Prior to joining Avon Insurance Brokers, Allan began his career in Christchurch as a general insurance clerk with the National Insurance but soon went on to several senior positions including office manager (based in Dunedin) and the South Island Sales Manager (based in Christchurch) for Royal and Sun Alliance Insurance.

In 1995, Allan became an Insurance Broker specialising in Commercial Insurance and joined Avon Insurance Brokers in February 2001 as a partner.

Allan is a senior Associate of the Insurance Institute and maintains a current Qualified Practicing Insurance Broker Certification. He also serves as a board member of IBANZ.

Allan lives in Christchurch and is married with two adult children. He is an active member of the Salvation Army, and loves rugby, classic cars, motorcycling and speedway.

Brendan has been at Avon Insurance Brokers since 2003. Undertaking a variety of roles at Avon Insurance Brokers has given Brendan a broad skillset which he feels benefits him in his current broker role which he has held since 2009.  He believes in integrity and putting the clients’ needs first and he prides himself on his communication skills and ability to source effective insurance solutions for his clients. He has studied and gained qualifications through the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance and is undergoing continuing professional development through the IBANZ College.

Brendan is married with a young family and is actively involved in the Salvation Army. In his spare time Brendan enjoys getting out on his motorbike, his speedway involvement and assisting with junior rugby at Shirley RFC.

Carolyn joined the team at Avon in 2021 as a Broker.  She is working alongside Allan, supporting his existing clients as well as providing service to new clients.

She specialises in SME’s Insurance needs with experience in both Commercial and Rural Insurance.  She has worked in the industry for over 20 years and has gained industry qualifications through ANZIFF and is continuing professional development through IBANZ College.

Carolyn is married with 3 children and enjoys living in North Canterbury on her lifestyle farm.  Her interests include horses, yoga and gardening.

Kelly’s insurance experience allows her to provide an outstanding claims service to Avon Insurance clients.

Kelly gained claims experience working previously at IAG NZ. She is able to give clear sensible advice to clients in need of assistance at claim time & follows the claim process through to ensure Avon’s clients receive prompt settlement of their insurance claim.

Kelly lives in North Canterbury and enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, reading and cooking in her spare time.

With a Travel & Tourism Business Diploma and after enjoying 14 years in the Travel Industry, Jacqui decided to broker travel part-time, and learn a new role managing insurance claims.

After contracting in the IAG Kaikoura Earthquake Disaster Recovery Unit, which closed and unprecedented amount of claims in one year, Jacqui’s focus is to provide swift settlement of insurance claims. Not afraid to fight on behalf of customers for claim settlement, she provides excellent customer service and manages claims with integrity and efficiency.

Jacqui also completed a short-term contract in the Broker Personal Lines Sales & Underwriting Support at NZI. With the majority of business going offshore, Jacqui is now enjoying her role in claims management here at Avon Insurance.

Jacqui lives in Sumner and is involved on a volunteer basis in her local Church processing funding applications. In her spare time, she enjoys the local Sumner beach area and walks, company of friends and loves travelling internationally on an annual basis.

Carla has returned to Avon Insurance Brokers as a domestic broker, and is working remotely from sunny Nelson where she resides with her family.

Working in the Insurance industry for 20 years, she has gained experience in underwriting, claims, commercial & domestic broking along with broker administration.

Carla is the Treasurer of her local Women’s Institute group and enjoys music, painting, gardening, group fitness and classic cars.

After 14 years in the engineering industry in Christchurch, Russell decided in 1988 to change direction and joined National Mutual as a life agent. Five years later, he decided his future lay as an independent broker and financial adviser and left National Mutual to join Caledonian Financial Services.

In 1996 Russell established his own business, Forward Planning Ltd, and around that time entered into a formal arrangement with Avon Insurance Brokers, as a sub agent for all fire and general insurance, and to provide Avon clients with advice and access to life, health and disability insurance.

Russell lives in Rangiora and is married with 3 children. Russell’s daughter Kelsey joined the business in 2012 and runs the brokerage on a day to day basis and handles all claims. Kelsey has represented Canterbury and New Zealand at Korfball. She plays Netball and Touch for local North Canterbury sides.

Russell has previously coached Junior Rugby in North Canterbury taking the under 13 Rangiora team to win the final in 2006. He had also assisted coaching Kelsey’s netball side. He helps his son Callum with building drift cars and has a small collection of Japanese and American Classic cars and motorcycles. These aside, he enjoys spending time with his wife Katherine and their grandchildren of eldest daughter Courtney.
